Cambridge Program

MAST Academy is a nationally recognized, innovative school of choice here in Miami-Dade County that now offers four magnet programs: the Maritime & Science Technology Program; Cambridge General Studies program; Cambridge Global Studies Program; and Cambridge Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. This year is our official launch of the Cambridge curriculum, which is a curriculum taught in over 9,000 schools in 150 countries worldwide. In 1994, the Cambridge AICE program was first introduced to the United States.

Cambridge courses are demanding pre-university courses that emphasize higher order thinking skills, oral skills, writing skills, problem solving, teamwork and investigative skills.Highly motivated students who excel academically and are well rounded in their extracurricular activities will be attracted to this program. Students who successfully complete a Cambridge program will receive an Advance International Certificate of Education , or AICE diploma in addition to their MAST Academy diploma. The AICE diploma certifies that the student has completed an academically rigorous program placing the student ahead in college admissions and scholarship acquisition.

While this orientation will provide a brief overview of the Cambridge programs at our school, we encourage you to visit, the Cambridge web sites for additional information: www.cie.org.uk. US University Admissions Staff Explain Why They Value the Cambridge Diploma YouTube Video

M-DCPS has become the first major school district in the United States to build such a relationship.

Over the next three years, M-DCPS will roll out 80 Cambridge Programs in 70 schools, including the Cambridge Primary Program in elementary schools, the Cambridge Secondary 1 Program in middle schools, and the Cambridge International General Certification of Secondary Education (Cambridge IGCSE) and the Cambridge Advanced International Certificate of Education (Cambridge AICE) Diploma Programs in senior high schools. These new Cambridge Program schools will complement the 20 existing Cambridge programs currently in 16 M-DCPS schools.
